The Half-Life hiatus has finally ended, after a rumour that a VR Half-Life game is in the works, we have confirmation of Valve’s third full-length entry in the series, Half-Life: Alyx. More intriguing than the actual magic that makes your GPU work, and more elusive than a good movie tie-in game, so what is the current state of Half-Life 3? I wouldn't expect HL2 Episode 3 details for a while.Half-Life 3 is the greatest mystery in PC gaming. With Left 4 Dead, rumblings about Portal, and constant TF2 updates. and I replayed HL2 and HL2 Episode 1 when Episode 2 came out (well, they gave me another copy so I decided to use it damnit). it justifies the sense of amnesia the player experiences when jumping into a story about 10 minutes in the future, despite waiting two years to get to it. I guess it makes sense that Gordon always seems to get knocked the out or put in stasis lock towards the end of every game. It makes everything feel just a little disjointed. My only real complaint about the episodes is that you're essentially experiencing a full game in three parts, with anywhere from 1-2 years in between. I think they would have been better off being named "Half Life 3: Episode 1" to Episode 3 inclusive.

To me, the Episodes don't really feel like short extensions of Half Life 2.

I'd rather wait for a game (episode) that lives up to the standard of the previous titles than get a sub-par version now. The ones that are usually get spread out across multiple projects. and not all of them are involved in developing games. but keep two things in mind:ġ) Valve is a relatively small studio. We might knock on Valve for being really slow in developing the game.
